Fire Shutters
Fire resistant roller shutter is available in a 2 and 4 hour fire rating certified by the CSIRO Division of Materials Science & Engineering in accordance with the Australian Standard 1530 - methods of fire test on building materials, components and structures, part 4, 2005. Fire Rated Roller Shutters are used where there is a high fire danger or open areas where a fire cannot easily be contained. Fire shutters close automatically at a controlled rate when activated to prevent fire from spreading.

Typical applications include supermarkets, office blocks, hospitals, carparks, factories, warehouses, nursing homes and where hazardous materials are stored.
Opening size limitations
Standard
- Maximum Height -5000mm
- Maximum Width – 8000mm
Total door size must not exceed 40 square meters.
Oversize
- Maximum Height – 5000mm
- Maximum Width – 8000mm
NB: Oversized doors must be fitted with drenching and sprinkler systems
Features
The Shutter remain in a “hold open” position and automatically descent in a controlled manner in an event of a fire
Operations
Available in a chain (maximum 16 Ms curtain size) or electric operation.
Finish
- Galvanised steel (standard)
- Standard Polyester powdercoated finish. Some range of powdercoat colours are not recommended for roller shutters.
The curtain is manufactured using 100mm x 1mm thick roll-formed galvanized steel slats, with alternate slats fitted with malleable steel end clips.
Drum
Fabricated from seamless steel tube of appropriate diameters and thickness engineered to suit the opening. Helical coil oil tempered springs fitted to an axle revolving on steel bearings.
Bottom Rail – standard
The bottom rail is made up of T section, comprising of not less than 40mm x 40mm x 4mm steel angle
Labelling/Compliance Certificates
Atlas Fire Rated Roller Shutter is labeled with a metal steel tag, which is stamped with the manufacturer’s name, fire rating, door number and year of manufacture. All Fire Rated Shutters are accompanied by a Certificate of Compliance.
